I am a textile design practitioner practitioner looking to continue my career within in a Teaching environment. I am currently within the last few months of my three year degree studying Textile Design at Birmingham City University; where I have had the opportunity to study and experience many areas of design, which I aim to take forward and share through the next steps of my career.

From a young age I have loved the excitement of beginning with an idea and watching it evolve. I find the whole concept of a design journey fascinating; the ability to transform a thought into tangible reality is truly amazing. Not only do I thoroughly enjoy art and design, I feel as that it encourages my confidence to flourish as I develop of a sense of achievement and pride with every new project. It allows me to communicate without having to speak.

From studying a Textile Design degree at Birmingham City University, I have learnt to understand the importance of all areas of the design journey: from the constant research to remembering to be true to yourself in what you believe and allowing yourself to enjoy the design experience. I believe that a lot of my work represents this as I prefer to design for myself rather than for someone else as believe I can create something that is much more personal and expressive.

During my time at university I have evolved not only as a designer, but personally too. I found a new sense of direction guiding me towards a career in which I can share my experiences and love for design. I believe that within Teaching I will have the opportunity to share with others the joy and importance of art & design and how it is used in our day to day lives. I plan to carry on designing throughout my teaching career with hopes to open a small craft business.

I am still learning myself and will continue to but loving every second of it!
